Trout Insights will never share, sell, or rent geographic location information about Trout Insights users to third parties in ways other than disclosed in this privacy statement.

Trout Insights only collects personal information about you if you voluntarily choose to share it with Trout Insights. Users who wish to be notified of new products and features may subscribe to an email newsletter by providing an Email Address, First Name, and Last Name.

Like most standard Web site servers, Trout Insights uses log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Trout Insights Service or App, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. In addition, Trout Insights uses Google Analytics as a method of tracking site statistics and user behavior on the Site.


Trout Insights leverages a mapping platform provided by Mapbox. Trout Insights will periodically send location and usage data to Mapbox, which will be used to improve maps, provide usage information, and for other purposes consistent with the Mapbox privacy policy.

Trout Insights offers location-enabled services that will attempt to offer enhanced features based on your location (for instance, locating nearby rivers). If you use those services, Trout Insights may receive information about your actual location (such as GPS signals sent by a mobile device) or information that can be used to approximate a location (such as a cell ID).


We use cookies to save your preferences and track your ads, for this reason you must have cookies enabled in your browser to use our Site and Services. Additionally, some or all of our cookies may be accessible by third parties.


You agree that we may disclose your information to authorities if compelled to by a court order. Additionally, you agree that we may disclose your information if we reasonably believe that you have violated a US law or the terms of our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy or if we believe that a third-party is at risk of bodily harm. It is in your best interests to safeguard your information and to use firewalls, anti-virus, spyware and other encryption methods when submitting personal information or content to us.


Trout Insights permits residents of the State of California to use its Service, and complies with the California Business and Professions Code §§ 22575-22579. If you are a California resident you may request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to any third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Various provisions throughout this Privacy Policy address requirements of the Californian privacy statutes. Although we do not disseminate your information to third parties without permission, you must presume that we collect electronic information from all visitors. We intend to fully comply with COPPA and international laws respecting children’s privacy. Therefore, we do not collect or process any information for any persons under the age of 13.
